Academics The term "pre-law" does not designate an academic major at The University of Arizona. Unlike other pre-professional programs, there are no curriculum requirements for students who are interested in attending law school. Law schools do not prescribe particular courses, nor do they favor certain majors in admission decisions. (Please be advised that the University of Arizona APRR & SAPR may not reflect all available courses. Current listings of the PLW Minor Courses are available in the Pre-Law Advising Center, ILC 103 or by clicking on the link below). Selecting a Major
Students who are unsure of a major are encouraged to take general education courses and explore the various academic disciplines at The University of Arizona. By taking a wide range of subjects, you can lay the foundation for a well-rounded education and select a major that reflects your interests and abilities. You are more likely to be satisfied with a major that is academically challenging and intellectually stimulating. Your selected major should also prepare you for an alternate career, in the event you decide to postpone law school or pursue a different profession. It is important to select a major for its own merit, not because it may open the door to law school. The majority of University of Arizona graduates accepted to law school in recent years earned a degree from Social and Behavioral Sciences, Humanities, and Business and Public Administration. While some majors may be selected more frequently, remember any major within any college at the University is acceptable for law school. |
